About Me:

My personal interests include holistic gardening (beyond organic) and music.  I have played musical instruments for more than forty years and I occasionally write songs.  I also enjoy creating and solving logic puzzles.

My love of gardening has been with me for as long as I can remember. Now that I own a home in Belmont, I have filled the land with perennials such as fruits, nuts, asparagus and saffron; a large annual vegetable garden; and extensive plantings to benefit pollinators, butterflies, song birds and overall ecosystem health.  I enjoy the beauty that nature creates.

I grew up in the 1970s in Annandale, Virginia.  I was blessed to attend good quality, integrated public schools with other students from around this country and the rest of the world.  To give an idea of the times: My first year of school was the first time that girls were allowed to wear pants.  I was in the last graduating class from Thomas Jefferson High School (Go Colonials!).

During my adult years, I spent some time on the West Coast before returning East. I have lived in cities, rural areas and farming communities. I did secretarial work until computers and technology made that mostly obsolete. More than a dozen years ago, the University of Virginia brought me to the Charlottesville area but I chose to remain here and call it home.
